Elite Clue

Featured Replies

Ok since I can't seem to get a stryke task i'm wondering what would be the best monster to kill to get an elite?

images-1.jpgThere is dignity in suffering, nobility in pain, but failure is a salted wound, that burns over and over again.

The monster with the highest drop rate is the Skeletal Horror, so kill that every week.

An elite clue from Bork is VERY rare, but the charms are worth killing him daily if not 99 summoning.

Strykewyrms have a decently high drop rate, but as you said they can only be killed on Slayer tasks. Slayer is in itself a good option, letting you kill Dagannoths, Strykewyrms, and metal dragons more quickly.

GWD bosses and DKs have an okay drop rate (elite clues are rare in the first place!) but you'll probably make more from the drops than from elite clue loot.

This all leaves two options: Mithril Dragons and Tormented Demons.

Mithril dragons are easy to camp at and drop clues frequently, though most are level 3. You will get one eventually here; camping here is certainly much better than at iron or steel dragons and you'll make a little money from it with the chance of a big drop.

Tormented Demons drop elite clues VERY rarely, but as you can kill Tormented Demons pretty quickly (30/hr with unicorn, 45/hr with Titan), they aren't bad. TDs also have arguably the highest hourly profit in the game (barring some armadyl solo setups) with claw drops fairly frequently at 1/300 or so. You will get blue charms and effigies in abundance as well. In fact, all this considered, TDs are the best monster to kill, even better than Frost Dragons.

The catch? It's hard to reach those killrates. Using a 1-spawn spot, most people only get 10-15 kills/hr. You will have to be good at prayer switching and flashing and use the best gear (overloads, chaotic weapons) to get the rates above. Below 88 summoning, other bosses are much better cash because you'll spend a lot of time healing and you'll have to bank frequently for a low killrate.

I prefer camping irons to miths. More kills per hour = more bones per hour = more gp per hour.

2.5ing DKs.

DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers rings

QBD drops: 1 kite, 2 visages, 4 dragonbone kits, 3 effigies, lots of crossbow parts

CR vs. CLS threads always turn into discussions about penis size.

It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.

I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty).

What's 2.5ing

I find the best way is to do Irons/Steels.. They are easy to kill, and have pretty good drops.
