Small suggestion for Ring of Kinship

As many may already know, the Ring of Kinship is the dungeoneering ring, which you use for forming parties, teleporting, etc.

 

Recently, Jagex also updated it so you can customize your ring into different classes, so you can get small bonuses depending on which ring you use.

 

I found this update VERY nice, because although it is small change, it is helpful to everybody, from skillers to warriors. One thing I didn't like was how complicated it was to switch between classes. You have to open a window, which means it's hard to switch during combat or some activities.

 

My suggestion is for us to be able to pick 3 or 4 classes that your most often use (be it 3 different melee classes, 1 of each melee/range/mage, etc), and be able to switch between them by right clicking your ring in your equipment interface, sort of like how you can teleport by right clicking your glory amulet there. My hope is this will make it easier to switch between classes during combat. For example your in a room with a 114 mage and a 132 warrior, you can kill the mage then immediately switch to a blitzer/blazer class and kill the warrior. Or maybe you need to clear a room of obstacles, and need to switch to gatherer, well now you can without much hassle!

 

Anyways, feedback/suggestions are welcome!

Exactly how would it make you too powerful? Why would they make something nice and make it very inconvenient to use correctly?

They don;t want you to switch between bonuses mid-fight because each bonus alone is rather powerful as you get to the higher levels and allowing fast mid-combat switching would mean you culd be far too powerful.

The current way of swapping isn't inconvenient; it does however stop you becoming over powered.

I'm thinking they gave us right click options for teleporting on jewelery, so being able to switch between classes isn't all that bad.

 

I mean, think about it, you can now teleport in combat, even if it is 2 click, it still is very quick.

Theres always been 1 click teleports, way before jewellery got right click options. And they are still 2 clicks, so it hasn't made any huge change to game mechanics. People still stick to things like teletabs and ectophial for their emergency get out.

Adding faster ways to tele on jewelerry just effected efficiency of them; didn't impact of combat escaping or difficulty as they still aren't as fast to use as ecto etc.

 

Adding a right click to ring of kinship so you can swpa class mid-fight DOES effect difficulty and combat as you can istantly jump for super boosted meleer to super boosted mage; thus making you too powerful

Actually the glory is like a emergency teleport for me. When I do clues, or quests etc, i always wear one for emergencies.

 

I don't get how switching faster would make you overpowered. With your logic, the root of the problem lies within the bonuses themselves, not the ability to switch between them.

There is no problem; they are easily switched outside of combat because switching during combat would allow you to be overpowered.

Not too be the bearer of bad news, but Sy is right. They don't really want you switching bonuses in the middle of a fight. If you need to the boosts you can leave the room switch and come back. On a side note it really doesn't matter how you use the glory amulet, that doesn't make it a valid argument.

Yuo. If you could switch easily, there'd be little to no point in having them be separate bonuses in the first place.

The only thing wrong with it is the lack of a percentage for when you need to stroke it.

Why not just make this a "permanent effect"?

 

Once you buy the ring of kinship effect, it is permanently imbued on your character and can be used anytime you want.

 

That way it saves the hassle of having to switch every time, and it would probably be useful just for buying the tiers.

I have to agree with acursed. Good idea though, but as he said, its a bit overpowered.
