Glockslinger
15. Upon attacking the queen, pray protect melee. When a Defiler appears, pray protect magic and kill the Defiler. When your screen shakes and the queen stops attack (as if charging), switch to Korasi's sword and use a special attack on her; this will stop her from killing all allies attack her and hitting you for about 500 damage. Your void ranger allies will attack the void drones healing the queen so it's vital they stay alive. Should be:15. Upon attacking the queen, pray protect melee. Sy_Accursed
I disagree with this correction to an extent. The part about leaving defiler alive is good, but prayer swapping is bad idea. Also the queens mage attack is FAR worse than melee, the guide should advise melee armour and mage prayer. Tim
I'm about to re-attempt to kill her again so I'll try the melee armour/mage prayer method also. Popoto.~<
Glockslinger
melee armor won't work, you will take bigger hits. Lvl 138's can attest to that. Killing the defilers is not necessary. Its been tried and proven by multiple players. Read some of the guides on the RS forums. Its been done which means its a viable option.
Glockslinger
I just did this and beat it on first try. The defilers do not have to be killed. hit them each once and then attack from the queens side. Only one of the defilers will attack you that way. Tim
I just killed her then. Protecting melee is a far better option from what I gathered, trying protect magic while in melee mode was silly. Unless you're going to range her, use protect melee because it does hit accurately. I will add in the defiler part as I did it also and it's helpful, especially when they both spawn on one side. Sy_Accursed
I find it odd that some people are so sure the pray melee + mage gear works best; I mean if you look at my stats clearly my mage defence is gonna be pretty high and I near died and had to bail out 3 times with melee prayer. Yet succeeded 2nd try with mage prayer (1st time i got struck by lag). Perhaps is a timing thing, maxed meleers down her quickly and rarely see the mage. But lower melee she does mage sometimes when ur right beside her. I could be wrong, but didn't something appear on the forums from a J-Mod about this being a melee preferred thing? I quote from the FAQ (Quick find code: 15-16-417-61761843): "Why did you choose Attack and Strength as fairly high requirements? Didn't you think of Mages or Rangers?" Attack and strength were a continuation of the requirements from the first quest, as many of the other skill requirements were a step up from the second quest. Attack and Strength were chosen because Void Knights value them more than other forms of combat and also because the Boss battle was intended as a melee fight. You can, of course, attempt to use Mage and Ranged, but that was how it was originally designed. It isn't a slight against Mage and Ranged, it's just how things panned out this time. ~ Mod Nancy Quests will continue to use a range of levels and skills. The quest also had a high magic level. ~ Mod Mark So...yeah. No guide on here should recommend ranging or maging. If you had to be ridiculously high to do it, it wouldn't make much sense to put it in a guide. Those players with ridiculously high stats wouldn't be the ones that the guide was aimed at in the first place. Sy_Accursed
I think you've got lost sportsguy. I never said you should mage. I said I succeeded at the fight FAR better with protect from mage prayer and melee armour; opposed to protect from melee and mage armour. Aurhora
Thanks for the tips and suggestions guys. I have tried it both ways and found the following: The Pest Queen can mage you repeatedly when you are standing right next to her. Melee and mage seem to occur in continuous trains for a period of time versus being one off occurences. She will always mage you when you go to either kill or just smack a Deflier once to get their attention. Prayer swapping to defend against whatever she was hitting me with at the time worked best for me. Also, there are 2 defiler respawn points. If you can manage to trap a specific one, that one will not respawn further. However, trapping both Defilers can be difficult and it may be more efficient to just kill one and trap the other. Guide has been updated to reflect these observations. Please pm me if you want to discuss this any further, thanks! :shades:
