Zaaps1
So basically I went to fight caves with my nifty Chaotic Rapier, Overloads, and Turmoil/SS and more or less ran through the first 62 waves. But I messed up the prayer switching so bad that I didn't even get a look at Jad. Now I understand that magic is like retribution going off, it has the tick-tick sound, is a fireball, etc and that ranged can't be heard soon enough but can be seen. My problem, however, is that I get too confused during the fight and lose track of where I am. Hemen's guide to prayer switching was drawn to my attention. However, my computer is too much of a POS to run both RS and Youtube smoothly at the same time. Which more or less means that I can't practice prayer switching to videos. Well, first off I want to ask, since Reflect Curses activate much slower than Protection Prayers, is there another rule I should follow for protecting against the magic attack? I mean, when I hear the tick-tick noise before the whoosh, I click Deflect Magic and the prayer is active when the attack hits me, but it still wipes out a good 400-500 lifepoints. Should I just activate magic prayer and take my chances with the ranged? What about once I start meleeing Jad? When do I switch so that even with the speed liability of curses, I will be safe? Second, is there some way I can either fix this crap computer or an alternative way someone has that can help me practice? My iPod is actually broken so I don't really have another handheld means of accessing Youtube. Thanks. Oh and one more thing. If the healers do start to heal Jad before I can kill him, what do I do? Should I lure the healers or just tank through it? ~It's Super Effective! Dire_Wolf
TACTIC: High defensive ranged gear, protecting only magic and melee (no ranged protect). You got 70% chance of success. INVENTORyOverload8 RocktailEnchanced excalibur EQUIPMENTTorags helmFuryTorag plate/DharokTorag/Dharok legDragon bootsDragonfire shield>Obsidian shieldChaotic rapierOnyx ring (I)>Berserker ring (I)>Archers ring (I) (+8 Ranged defense) Assuming you can deal with Jads melee attack which you do by switching to melee prayer as soon as ranged/magic attack hits, then this tactic will help you alot. Go under Jad when you need to eat, and make sure you pot overload and use excalibur special to heal your hp back from ovl. Just make sure you use two vegances and healers will not be a problem. You can hit a maxium damage of 58 with fastest speed and one of best accuracy,so youll be fine. Let's say you have taken Jad down to near half hp without even casting vegance, then u could use vegance at Jads half hp to help u finish him off. It's about timing it right. Zaaps1
I don't get it, why NOT pray against ranged as well when you are meleeing Jad? Or is that just for approaching? ~It's Super Effective! Dire_Wolf
Just memorize magic attack. That is your best bet. I will see if i can make a auido file on my guide. Like a auido you can listen to switch to .
Kidd_Varrow
The way I did it was, once I could see him, I had on deflect magic at all times unless I saw him stomp, at which point I would switch to deflect ranged then back to deflect magic as soon as the attack hit. Because you have to switch to A or B, but once A or B hits , u must switch FAST to C.

Do conventional methods even work?Curse is same as regular, who has said otherwise? And by memorize i mean learn to know the magic attack sound so well that when you hear the sound you will react and switch to magic protection right away. And if you mean by usual way of killing Jad, yes it works. Your problem is that you can't do prayer switching practise to get you a bit familiar with what you need to do. But here is what i suggest: Protect ranged from start, if you hear magic, change to it. Once your char attacks Jad make sure u have changed to other attack Jad uses after he uses his first attack. And once that second attack of Jad hits your char (damage or 0), change to melee protect. Example:Jad uses ranged attack, u change to ranged, once the attack reaches u , change fast to melee and wait til he uses ranged/magic attack again. He'll use melee mostly though. IMPORTANT:Second attack will be a unbalanced attack, because of the timing. So have prayerspell book ready and your eyes on Jad and ur char. ILL GO DO JAD ANd shOW IN A vIDEO:P
SoulWars
First of all, make sure you're playing on a stable server and on a good PC (so it's responsive). That'll determine the rate of responsiveness regarding display of Jad's attacks and your switches. Secondly, practice them. If meleeing Jad, consider using this technique: *Pray magic whenever you hear the 'boom boom'sound*Pray ranged whenever you see him stomp*Pray melee whenever the attack is finished I'd personally tank out the healers (especially if you have a lot of food remaining) as they might distract you from his attacks. Good luck!
