Half Life 2 Crashing

Hi, I am having problem with Half Life 2.

When I attack a guard with the crowbar, after you first get it from Barney, the game will suddenly crash, and I am left hearing a reoccurring sound of the crow bar hitting the guard, and the screen goes black.

My computer is left unresponsive, and will not respond to CTRL+ALT+DELETE, nor any other commands. I have to physically hold down the power button to get it out.

How can I get around this?

 

I'm Running Windows XP with a 1.7GHZ (Minimal I know...)

My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages.
