Okay, I bought a 500gb external hdd and it works fine and all on my computer, but because it is formatted as NTFS it won't work on my Xbox 360. Now the main reason I need it to work on my 360 is because thats how I watch my tv shows, ect.. So I looked and looked all over the internet and discovered that I need it to be formatted as Fat 32. I have a 320GB drive that is in Fat32 format, but I can't format from NTFS because apparently fat32 won't allow me to go over 32GB.

 

What I ended up doing was creating 6 partitions, 5 of them being 31.5GB Fat32's and the remaining space being NTFS. Is that my only option or can I somehow make the whole drive Fat32 without purchasing some program?

 

Lastly, why is it that my 320GB drive came formatted as Fat32 and works fine but the newer ones won't read over 32GB as Fat32. :mellow:

 

If anyone needs me to clarify anything please let me know, I tried to explain my predicament the best I could.

open comand prompt and type:

"format drive /fs:fat32"

 

where "drive" is the letter of the hard drive.

Using that command didn't work, it said the drive is too large.

 

Edit: Omfg I finally figured it out. I downloaded EASEUS Partition Master 6.5.2 Home Edition and it got the job done in 30 seconds. I seriously wonder why windows has to complicate simple ass processes.

XP has that limit of 32gb because of performance for some reason. Some versions of Windows don't have that limit, some have smaller limit and some have larger.
