Hedgehog
And dragon has boots, and muuuuch better weopens than barrows. If we're arguing about which set is better, dragon is clearly more versatile than barrows. Mind you, if you factor everything in, you're only looking at 2 major drawbacks: the more food you'll need to use dragon vs the repair costs of barrows. Ultimately though, I'd rather use that 250k to support the market/fishers...p2tp. Ya, dragon has boots and defender. No one uses dragon/barrows weapons. They use a whip or rapier. Unless they're like level 80. Then they use a d scim or whatever. But that's irrelevant, since the topic is about armor. Everything else either sucks, or has a much cheaper and more effective alternative. Dragon is not more versatile than barrows, unless you count having less stats and less prayer as more versatile. Also, its only 170k for repairs, less if you use your poh.
Zaaps1
There's really no reason to own dragon unless you want to "show-off". If you need the defense, granite/rune will serve you fine until you get barrows. As people have mentioned, the defender and boots are really the only dragon items actually worth it. Perhaps d claws as well, but that's outside the realm of armor. ~It's Super Effective!
