January 31, 201115 yr Im going members very soon. Ive got 60 defence in the build up to member, same across the board for str and attack. Im curious is dragon armour worth buying? My friend told me most people supliment dragon plate or chain with granite body as well as a neits helm or berserker instead of full helm. Is that true? Can anyone else tell me what i need for combat? While were on the subject why is dragon platebody and full helm so expensive? thanks
January 31, 201115 yr Apart from the legs (plateskirt is better: same stats, but lighter), stick with either rune or granite.Helm: Neitisnot, or slayer helm when applicable)Body: granite / runeLegs: dragon plate skirt.Boots: Dragon!Gloves: take the highes recipy for disaster gloves you can, best up to "barrows". The chainbody and platebody are this expensive because they were once very rare. The mediuj helmet and full helmet have the same story. Stat-wise, you're better of with a Helm of Neitiznot in most cases. Once you hit 70 defence, dragon armour becomes obsolete as you can get Barrows then. Other data was removed when acoount got hacked...
January 31, 201115 yr Do not buy dragon armor for defense it's mostly cosmetic at this point. Neitiznot is a great general use helm if you aren't slaying. Just stick with rune, maybe fighter torso until you can wear barrows at 70 def.
January 31, 201115 yr Not really worth buying, it's expensive and inferior to the Barrows melee armour (although that does require 70 defence). I'd recommend just getting 70 defence and buying Torag's Plate and Legs personally. It is quite rare you will see people wearing Dragon armour, most of the time it's just used to show off due to their being much cheaper and better alternatives out there (Neitiznot Helm, Barrows Armour and Fighter Torso to name but a few). Dragon Boots are the only piece of Dragon Armour with purchasing really. As for why the plate and full helm are so expensive, the helm is a very rare drop from Mithril Dragons or from Pyre Ships using Chewed Bones (also a drop from Mithril Dragons). The plate is rare 3 piece drop from Tormented Demons so you need all three pieces (and 92 smithing) to make it. So there are huge amounts of them in game. Hope this helps! January 31, 201115 yr Not worth it at all...I suggest you gring up to get 70 defense. Barrows is a thousand times better then dragon. And it is less costly. Runescape player since 2005 Ego Sum Deus Quo Malum Caligo et Barathum
January 31, 201115 yr Right now you should go with something like: Helm: Neitz > BerserkerAmulet: Glory > Power/StrengthBody: Fighter torso > RuneLegs: Dragon > RuneBoots: Dragon > RuneCape: Obsidian Cape > Normal capeShield: Obsidian shield > Rune kiteRing: Don't really know about that...maybe a ring of wealth/life until you can afford something better.Gloves: Combat braceletWeapon: Dragon longsword You should plan on training your attack to 70 so you can use an Abyssal Whip and enter the Warrior's guild to get a dragon defender.

I agree with most of the armour, but I'd say granite plate > rune plate > torso. Work towards 70 att/def if you want, for barrow armour and whip. Also, both the obsidian shield and rune kite aren't bad shields, you should compare their stats yourself, and the price and decide which one is more worth it. Squab unleashes Megiddo! February 1, 201115 yr Get the boots and the defender first. Then optionally, you can buy dragon plate and legs and wear a neiz helm on the cheap. Most people get 65 and then wear bandos.Bandos is a little less than full dragon.I like full dragon with the ornamental spikes and an agility cape. Its my favorite outfit and looks great with the taskmaster emote. February 1, 201115 yr I personally hate dragon armor. Not only is it useless, considering there are a number of other, cheaper options, i.e. proselyte and piety, rune, and barrows, but its also red and ugly.

Not only is it useless, considering there are a number of other, cheaper options, i.e. proselyte and piety, rune, and barrows, but its also red and ugly. You shouldn't spread misinformation. Dragon armor isn't useless, it's some of the best non-degrading armor to own, for those who aren't extremely rich. Proselyte is only useful in prayer on 100% of the time scenarios, not general purpose fighting. Rune is weaker than dragon. Why use rune when you can use dragon? Barrows degrades, a lot of people don't mind that, but there are some that do.
February 1, 201115 yr Dragon boots and dragon defender are worth it. The armour looks good IMO but Barrows is significantly better as long as you don't mind it degrading and then having to repair it. Best drop so far: Dragon Chainbody from a Dust Devil.

Yes it is, anywhere that you need a mediocre amount of defense rune armour will suffice just fine, anywhere you need the higher defense barrows is a fraction of the cost for a huge increase in defense. The degrading cost is a non issue, even if picking flax is your best money maker. February 1, 201115 yr I actually disagree with you tiezen. Dragon items tend to be the most preferred for anyone who just wants to sit and camp at monsters. I guess it is really just personal preference, the battle between less stats with non-degrading, and higher stats with 10hours useage per set.

I guess it is really just personal preference, the battle between less stats with non-degrading, and higher stats with 10hours useage per set. It's actually 15 hours in combat not 10.. unless they changed it since I last saw. And he, tieszen, is right, the degrade value is pennies when comparing the pro's and con's of each armor; especially since the price to repair barrows drops as you increase in smithing level. Also, 15 hours in combat is a loong time, so unless you are killing goblins or cows (cows might actually pay for the cost banking all hides and 1 hitting cows most of the time) for the whole 15 hours you should have been able to turn a profit large enough to pay for the cost of repairing the armor. The only people who are really against barrows are either too cheap to let go of their pixel gold coins or too ignorant to the facts about the armors in comparison. (I was a mixture of both before I hopped on the Barrows band-wagon) Apparently, my signature was to big.

(I was a mixture of both before I hopped on the Barrows band-wagon) As distilled from the general discussion thread I started about degrading armours and equipment, people can get OCD with the whole concept of degrading amours and this seems like the strongest reason. There were other reasons like how it's a "hassle" to go to your PoH every X hours and of course the (albeit minor) cost. I think the general consensus was that the actual mechanic itself was bothersome and unnecessary, especially with the new Nex drops. February 1, 201115 yr Not for the money. Stick with rune, then progress to Barrows. The defense between rune and dragon is negligible, the cost is not. ~ Proud Father ~ Proud (Currently Deployed) Army National Guardsmen ~ Proud Lakota ~ Retired Tip.It Crew ~
February 1, 201115 yr but it is so shiny and you get the warm fuzzy feeling you wear something that once was as rare as a phat (dchain back when it was 24mil).Barrows is better, but if you don't want barrows and have the money for dragon then why not? http://sign.tip.it/1/2/79/260/essiw.png Retired item crew I would like to be credited as essiw at the website update & corrections forum. February 1, 201115 yr dragon legs are ok untill you can get 70 def. chain is barley better than rune plate, d plate is ok if you can afford it, witch you probably cant. d full is pretty much looks only. February 1, 201115 yr And dragon has boots, and muuuuch better weopens than barrows. If we're arguing about which set is better, dragon is clearly more versatile than barrows. Mind you, if you factor everything in, you're only looking at 2 major drawbacks: the more food you'll need to use dragon vs the repair costs of barrows. Ultimately though, I'd rather use that 250k to support the market/fishers...p2tp.
