Let's say I'm going to duel somebody, with Magic off, but Melee and special attacks on. Does the ZGS special still work? Would freezing them, and then standing under them, hitting them with a chaotic weapon, and standing under them again work?

It should work, but why don't test this? lend or take your zgs, friendly duel a friend, and test it ;D

However, trying to safespot people is only effective if you're using a halberd. If they have a halberd as well, then you just wasted your spec bar.

 

Trying to safespot w/ melee by standing on top of them is futile because they can simply spam-click you to attack you w/o missing any hits whenever you come out of hiding.

I'm pretty sure the vast majority of people stake with the shield slot off.

You'd probably also get killed by claw specs by allowing 2h spec weapons
