Rock lobsters

I've been searching but can't seem to find a fairly up to date guide. Anyone know of a really good one?

Curious to the cost of both bursting and barraging for both 13k and 20k chrimson.

The help would be great (:

The AoW guide and Tip.It mainsite guide are still up-to-date. It hasn't changed much at all over the past few months. To be honest, the last thing to make a major impact was SoL + Battlerobes. Everything else was minor at best (perhaps the addition of Soul Split to use over blood spells). If you've ever been there in the past, just do what you did before.

This is what i've come up with for gear...

That look about right to you? and do you know the Charms/1k casts barraging in this setup?

Way too much magic bonus. You literally need no more than 80, maybe 90-100 if your magic isn't too high. Exchange those items instead of prayer bonus. For example, scrap the mage book and bring a Zamorak Book instead, or even a Falador Shield (which also restores prayer as a plus).

EDIT: Also, just wear the Soul Wars cape and forget the Guthix Cape entirely. I'd also only bring the Prossy plate and legs. With correct luring you will only used ~2ppoints per lure, regardless of whether or not you use the helm, so just bring another ppot. The only reason to use the helm, ever, is if you are using battle robes. In this case, using the helm prevents the hood from degrading hours before the top and bottom. This isn't an issue for Ahrims because it degrades much slower than Battle Robes and will reach 0 only after your trip is over.

Other than that, bring a house teleport instead of a camelot one. This way if you die, you won't have to pay for repair ahrims.

MORE EDIT: I notice you have 99 prayer. In this case, forget blood runes completely. You can use Soul Split to heal far more efficiently than Blood Barrage, so there's no need for those bloods at all.

Well I'll tell you my personal data using smoke barrage. If ice barrage, it won't change very much. Note this was at 88 magic and also from a long time ago, and on my third ever trip. With a high magic level, damage bonus from SoL/Arc Stream if you choose to keep it, and sheer experience, you can and will get higher.

Averages:

102.8k magic xp per hour

52.98k hp xp per hour

464.6 casts per hour

87.6 gold, 36.4 green, 155.8 crim, 6 blue per hour

6.8 ppot doses per hour

1 cast = 221.3 magic xp

1 cast = 114 hp xp

1 cast = .2 gold, .08 green, .34 crim, .01 blue

1 gold = 5 casts

1 green = 13 casts

1 crim = 3 casts

1 blue = 100 casts

That's a crim:cast ratio of 1:3. So per 1k casts, you'll get 300 crimsons. That's not all, though. Since SoL saves 1/8 of your runes, you'll actually get 300crims per 875 casts, or 343 crims per 1k casts.

Again this is just one run and from ages ago, but should give you a general estimate.

Also note that while you may want to dismiss the blue ratio as mere luck, from my experience it is actually very accurate.

Even better (: thanks again for all the information... I think it should take about 60k~ barrages to get charms for 99 while aslo doing bork daily.. since i just finished varrock elite and familiarzation each week... You suppose using it a lobs is best or turmoil/exteme on waterfiends?

EDIT: Witht the charms/cast you just gave me its probally going to be far less. 1k casts is about 2 hours right?

Here's the tricky part.

Before 95 summoning, it's a no brainer. Rock lobsters are clearly superior.

AFTER 95 summoning, however, it's a little less clear. At first glance, it would seem that waterfiends are better, because you can do better than the 160-70 crim/hr rate while not paying out tons of cash. However, waterfiends drop virtually no other charms of noteworthy mention. In fact, the xp granted via blues, greens, and golds by waterfiends can practically be ignored, since it is so little compared to that of blues.

At rock lobsters, however, this is not the case. By factoring xp from golds, greens, and blues, you see a jump from 170 crims/hr to 225 crims of xp/hr (by assigning each charm a value equal to a given fraction of a crimson charm, based off the pouches you will be making). Taking this into consideration, again, rock lobsters are a no brainer.

The complicating issue here is then the cost required to use up those extra greens, golds, and blues. And for that I honestly have no advice other than what I said to myself: "hell with it, I want my steel titan".

Also I would like to mention that with the new RoW update coming out, charm drops from both regular monsters AND Bork will be increased. Thus, if you want to save some money, it may be worth it to wait until the update later this month, THEN go out killing rock lobsters.

Of course, this requires you give up your ring of life. If you are inexperienced and are not comfortable doing this, I would recommend starting runs immediately and try to gain confidence ASAP. If the RoW update gives a significant boost to charm drops, you will want to use it extensively.

all these numbers are from 20k barrages, no bursts.

8k crimsons

4.4k golds

2.3k greens

300 blues

you don't need a brew or a super restore.

fury/stream doesn't change much of anything from my experience.

Go with a fury if you have one.

Thanks yet again, both of you.

For the most part, i was curious as to weather familiarization would be best at either waterfiends or lobs, although your explanation of waterfiends vs lobs was basically why i choose lobs, I want the steel titan, moreless the dragon :)

How long roughly did those 20k casts take?

And with the ROW update, i read on one guide to bring rol and seers and switch to rol for lures, rather then seers bring along the row...I could probally use this if I'm still noob when the update comes.

[some image, cannot be displayed on these boards due to picture format]

perhaps this setup might work better, allowing you to replace the proselyte and helm of neitiznot with prayer potions, (since prayer bonus comes with diminishing returns, especially noticeable after around +20 prayer bonus) allowing you to last even longer for a marginally more expensive inventory. Cheaper robes though, if that means anything to you.

EDIT: image doesn't work on these boards. It's essentially just showing full dagon'hai robes with staff of light, soul wars cape, unholy book (zamorak book), arcane streaming necklace, infinity boots, barrows gloves, and ring of life. You get +89 magic attack bonus and +21 prayer bonus with this setup, no inventory wasted on gear switches for luring the lobsters.

Try this guide out for size: here

Really? Cause as I recall it was you who was the one cussing me at base. Also, re-read what you just said: one 15 second delay (which is an exaggeration to begin with) ruins floor times? You are beyond ridiculous.

500 casts/hr, so that's 40 hours.

And switching rings sounds like a fantastic idea.
