March 18, 201115 yr My screen is blinking on and off, it used to do it every couple of hours; now it is happening every few seconds, plus it has red dots in a few places. How can I tell if it is the grapfics card or the monitor? It has taken me almost 30 min to post this because the screen went black; it was still receiving a signal though. It has gone back to blinking now. Seems to blink faster when I move a window around the screen, and the red dots are only on the desktop (they should not be there).
March 18, 201115 yr Are all the wires plugged in like they should? Do you have another monitor that you can try this on?
March 18, 201115 yr Seems like a loose plug or a graphics card problem. What are your system specs? Although, the red dots would be stuck pixels, so it could also be a monitor problem.
March 18, 201115 yr Author Everything seems to be back to normal now, Could this be caused by leaving the computer on too long? I have changed the power settings to not turn off the computer or monitor. Video card: BFG GeForce 8800GTS OC2 580MHl 320MB 1.7GHz GDDR3 PCI-E Dual DVI-I HDTV HDCP Motherboard: ASUS P5N32-E SLI Nforce 6801 SLI LGA775 Conroe ATX DDR2 2PCI-E16 PCI-E1 2PCI SATA2 RAID 8GB Ram Monitor is a Samsung
March 18, 201115 yr I'm thinking this was just a loose plug, but I can't be sure. An 8800 is still a strong card, so I doubt it's a lack of resources.
