012071
I'm a regular user of the site, but I never use the forums, so bear with me if I break some protocol by posting in the wrong area or something. Anyway, I was using the Magic XP Calculator and noticed that the xp values for some lower level spells are wrong. I'm not sure on the higher level ones, but I know that when I cast Wind Strike I only get 5.5xp rather than 7.5 as the calculator indicates. All of the strike spells are wrong. Jumping over to the Magic Guide I see that the xp values given in the table are correct, and perhaps there was a rs update that lowered the xp values and while the guide got updated, the calculator was forgotten. Just hoping this can get fixed. Thanks for all of the hard work in this place. :)
Sy_Accursed
Calc notes explains: NOTES The experience values given for spells that deal damage are the average amount of experience you'd get for casting that spell. The actual amount of experience you'll receive will most likely be different, because it depends on how much damage the spell does. For instance, if your Fire Blast hits for 10, you'll get less experience than is listed on the calculator, and if you hit for 150, you'll get more. Combined with mage guide info: Damage inducing spells are shown in bold to locate them easily. The table also includes the base amount of experience you will receive for casting a spell. Experience based on damage inflicted is explained in more detail in the Experience points section. and For every damage point you hit your opponent, you receive .2 magic experience. You also receive .133 life points experience for every damage point you inflict. If you put your attack style to defensive, you get .1 point experience in magic and .1 point experience in defence for every damage point you inflict. tldr;Combat spells xp values in calc are base cast xp + average damage xp to more accurately represent xp you get when using them Operation Gold Sparkles :: Chompy Kills :: Full Profound :: Champions :: Barbarian Notes :: Champions Tackle Box :: MA RewardsDragonkin Journals :: Ports Stories :: Elder Chronicles :: Boss Slayer :: Penance King :: Kal'gerion Titles :: Gold Statue
012071
I guess that works. I was just using it for a different purpose, where I cast the spell but don't deal any damage, in which case the numbers are way off. I suppose I'll just have to crunch the numbers myself. Thanks for the insight as to why it's different! For those curious, I'm level 64 magic, but what I was doing was donning full plate and stuff to drop my magic attack bonus (got down to -68) then attacking the blue dragon in the basement of the Heroes' Guild with Wind Strike because it wouldn't kill him, I'd just be able to sit there casting over and over. I eventually moved up to Fire Strike because I found I didn't deal damage with that either. Just bought ~45k mind runes to go to town with. The only catch with this training is if I don't keep an eye on it, I log out. Meh, I'll live with it.
Sy_Accursed
To crew reading this: Perhaps a check box or two, like on fm calc, could be coded into the three* mage calc for damage spells:1 (easy one) a "no damage xp" to knock them down to just cast xp2 (might be doable not sure) an "enter your own average damage" type box to fine tune the xp read outs. *Not sure if there's any this applies to in lunar Operation Gold Sparkles :: Chompy Kills :: Full Profound :: Champions :: Barbarian Notes :: Champions Tackle Box :: MA RewardsDragonkin Journals :: Ports Stories :: Elder Chronicles :: Boss Slayer :: Penance King :: Kal'gerion Titles :: Gold Statue
