[SOLVED{wait, not really}]PSU question

I'm working my first gaming build and am trying to pick a power supply. This Raidmax PSU is cheap, gold certified, has the wattage I want, and has great reviews. However, I want this gtx 570 card which requires a minimum of 38A on the 12v rail, and uses 2 6-pin connectors. The Raidmax has 4 34 amp rails, along with 4 6 pin connectors. Will that work with the card?

Thanks in advance for the help.

EDIT: ah, research. It turns out this psu series is really rebranded from the Commander II line, which is actually quite decent. http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/In-Win-Commander-II-850-W-Power-Supply-Review/1316/10

I wouldn't really reccomend a Raidmax PSU. A PSU is something you really don't want to skimp on. Get a Corsair, Antec or Seasonic.

Regarding the ampage, its never been something I've taken any consideration on, or seen anyone actually look at. If you get a decent PSU it should work... I don't know if that's just me being stupid though.

I was thinking the same thing about the price but it has everything I want, I know multiple people who have it, and it has the highest rating of 850w supplies on Newegg. Not sure if those are good reasons but I think they are.

High ratings on Newegg means nothing. It's fact that Corsair, SeaSonic and Antec make the best PSUs you can get. When a PSU fails, it's very likely it will fry everything else in your computer. You really shouldn't get anything other than those three brands.

It hard to give recommendations, since you don't mention anything but the GTX570, but I would say you won't be needing anything more than a 750W PSU, unless you're getting two 570s. Here's what I would recommend instead:

I've heard great things about the first one. I have a friend that powers three GTX470s, 2 HDDs and a crapload of case fans with it and it runs great.

Now to answer your original question, yes, that PSU would power that GPU just fine. The question is, how long will it last? :ohnoes:

Mostly I was just future-proofing in case I wanted to sli another card but honestly that won't happen. Thanks for the advice, I think I'll go with that first one.

The Corsair 750W could safely power two GTX570s. Just don't go plugging in two 570s, 5 HDDs and a pair of surround sound earphones.

Also, I was shopping around, trying to find a cheap PSU for a friend's build, and stumbled upon this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371049&Tpk=antec%20gamer%20750

That would work great, as long as you have a big case. It's not modular, so you'll have a bunch of cables not plugged into anything. If you want to save money, get the Antec. If you want to save room, get the Corsair.

That's a good choice, but 750W is perhaps a little overkill TBH.

I would not recommend that. Corsair, Antec or Seasonic are the three brands which you should look at for a gaming setup. I would recommend something like this. It's a solid PSU which will almost definitely not fail on you. That in-win one is 100W more and $2 cheaper, but there's probably a reason for that.
