July 25, 201114 yr I'm pretty new to steam and after downloading TF2 on my computer I'm able to see the Valve logo along with the Source engine cenemaic logo. But shortly after where a cutscene introducing the game is supposed to start my computer stays black and the game stops responding. There is no error that comes up, it just shows my mouse pointer loading and from then on nothing but black. Its clearly something wrong with steam seeing as I can play other games perfectly but even after several reinstall the same problem occurs. I made a clean reinstall about 2 weeks ago so all my drivers are up to date. Thanks. July 25, 201114 yr right click on TF2 in your library then go Properties > Local Files > Check Integrity of Game Cache. might not have downloaded something or something might have gotten corrupted during the download/install. Popoto.~<3
July 25, 201114 yr Author Did that along with defragmenting cache files and still no progress. If anything I would just reinstall again and see if that works. If anyone has more ideas i'm open to them.
July 25, 201114 yr Reinstalling is probably the easiest thing to do. RIP TET "That which does not kill us makes us stronger." - Friedrich Nietzsche
July 29, 201114 yr Try adding -windowed to the runtime paramaters if you're still having issues. Steam -> Library -> Right Click Team Fortress 2 -> Properties -> Set Launch Options This will force the game to start in a window letting you find out if the fullscreen mode is the problem. Also adding a space then -novid removes the valve intro video. Owner of the Quest Point Cape
July 29, 201114 yr Alternatively try -sw -noborder -w 1280 -h 1024 - this basically gives the illusion of it being fullscreen but it's in a window. Steam | Soup | Last.fm
July 29, 201114 yr Author Deleted registry keys that contained steam information then did a reinstall of steam and TF2 and worked. After that I did a Clean install of windows and just installed everything from scratch. Either option solved my problem. Thanks for the responses, learned a few things too.
