Seeking male voice actor for Golden Gnomes entry

Second image is spoilered, because (1) it's a spoiler, and (2) some may consider it a bit violent and may not want to see:

About the role:

The role is a male cat named Kitty. He only has two spoken lines at the very end of the video, though he plays a major role throughout the video.

Your voice does not have to sound cat-like in the slightest; an ordinary voice will do. The lines range from sadistically mocking to vengeful vindication. You will also need to laugh, in a vaguely evil or mean way.

You can offer to apply in this thread; the only things you need are a microphone and Skype (which you can download for free). Since I have no way of knowing who's a good voice actor just by their post, I'll accept multiple offers and record with as many people that apply. I'll choose whoever was the best for the part, but I'll also make an honorable mention in the video description of all people who didn't get chosen (if I forget to do this, please smack me with a rubber chicken and kindly remind me).

The deadline to post here about being a voice actor is August 5th, because Jagex isn't accepting entries any later than August 14th midnight (GMT), and I'll need some time to record with you, add your acting into the video, and render the whole thing. When you apply, please say what times and days you're available for recording! The recording may take anywhere between 5 and 20 minutes, depending on circumstances.

My time zone is GMT -5, but I think my schedule is flexible enough to record with people in most of Europe and the US. My YouTube channel is Deretythe; you can see some of my vids if you're not sure whether or not I have a chance.

*Edit* Also, I just realized I may end up getting a lot of offers - I already got 4 overnight (amongst the three forums this is at) :P. So once I have recorded with 15 people, I am not accepting any more entrants! This is just so I don't have to be on Skype 24/7, so if you want to try being the voice actor you should post as soon as you can :^_^:

In the spoiler is information about my video, the idea behind it, and how I'm going to make it. This should answer any questions that the above images may have given you.

About the video:

As the spoilered image implies, this video will generally have a dark, serious tone. It's vaguely horror-like, with creepy/mysterious things happening, and slightly disturbing sound effects. It's not outright gory/violent horror, as the spoilered image may imply. In fact, there is no actual blood or injuries until the very end. The video as a whole is basically creepy, not horror. The spoilered image will be as bad as it will get; hopefully that's not considered bad enough to get me disqualified.

About my inspiration for the video:

For those of you who have seen my videos, you'd know I usually focus on comedy and lighthearted things, not creepy stuff. Well, first, I was originally planning on making this a video to release on Halloween. However, I don't think I'd have time to make this around Halloween now that I'm going to college, and it was also one of my best ideas that I could think of to use for a Golden Gnomes entry.

A brief summary of the video idea (very brief, at least when you compare it to my script ):

The video will start out with a man in his POH's parlour at night. All other rooms are too dark to see into. Kitty will come in from the darkness and jump in his lap. Then the man will remember that his cat was sleeping in the corner of the room just a moment ago. When he turns his head, Kitty is indeed sleeping where the man remembered him. The man quickly looks back at his lap to find it empty. Much of the rest of the video consists of this: the man being bewildered and frightened by his cat, which seems to always be in a different place whenever he turns his back. Eventually, exhausted from Kitty's seemingly supernatural antics, the man grabs Kitty and stuffs him in his inventory, and thereafter falls asleep. After the man wakes up, things start to get a bit more nightmarish: at one point, he sees two of Kitty at once. After attempting to chase one, he trips over a severed arm, and his fear is only interrupted by a desire to catch the cat and find out what's going on. He chases the cat to the Quest Hall, where it vanishes. For some reason, the light on top of the stairs in on, and then something bounces down the stairs. It's the butler's head (yes, that is what you see in the spoilered image :P). Shortly thereafter, the light starts flickering, and --

No more spoilers; you have to wait until the video is done :P

Rest assured, there's a good explanation for what was going on throughout the video, but I'm not about to spoil it :)

The idea was basically inspired by my own cat, who seems to be able to teleport whenever I'm not looking . For the record, this idea is over two years old, so no, I didn't just start coming up with creepy ideas lately :P

About my progress making the video, and how I'm making it:

As my topic subtitle says, the video will be a 3D animation. I'll be predominantly using Blender, though I'll also use After Effects for some parts. I've already made all my sounds/music (except for Kitty's "meow"s and "mrrrw"s), using a combination of Mixcraft, Audacity, and Sound Recorder. I'm the voice actor for the man, and Tyrutu (a friend of mine, excellent RS artist, and winner of a previous official RS machinima comp) is a voice actor for another character (no, you don't get to know who, because that will spoil it! :P). Tyrutu and I have already done all our voice acting.

I'm modeling everything used in my video myself, because ripping models is considered illegitimate (and honestly, makes a 3D animation no better than a video made using a private server :P). I'm modeling in the style of RuneScape, and using screenshots to get several of my textures close to the same as their ingame equivalents, though many simple textures I choose to just make from scratch with Blender's procedural features (much simpler than screenshotting ingame textures with the Orb of Oculus, using the distort and skew tools in an image editor, and trying to make the texture repeat nicely). I'm aiming to get my lighting, however, to set the mood better than RS lighting ever would :P. I also won't worry about the RS grid when animating; my characters won't behave like rooks and bishops as in-game characters do . Also, I'll put a creative spin on things whenever I can to make things better: if you keep your eyes out for the things mounted on the walls of the quest hall, it may give you a laugh :P. There will even be an entire custom room to the POH: a living room, complete with a sofa, TV, and computer. I'll also make some things look better than their RS equivalents: first, the man's hair, as my friend Capt Hunter suggested, is more detailed than the equivalent hairstyle ingame. Second, the rooms of the house are 1.5x taller than ingame houses, both because it looks nicer, and because camera angles will be manageable considering there's a ceiling.

As far as progress in modeling, the most important rooms (Parlour and Quest Hall) are done, though the Parlour still needs its textures. I have yet to start modeling any objects specific to the Living Room, Dining Room, and Study.

I have all the characters modeled, textured, and rigged, though I've yet to start on animating. I have a loosely constructed storyboard for camera movements in the earlier scenes, and the script is very detailed in describing everything else I need to do. I've also got some of the lighting set up, as you can see from the screenshots at the top, though I may experiment more with that.

And no, that blood in the spoilered picture isn't modeled, I added it in using an image editor. I'll model blood in the finished work, but I can't until I know how I'm animating everything.

If you've read all this, wish me the best of luck; I'll need it :P

If you sign up to be a voice actor, you'll get to see the whole script, spoilers and all, since you'll be better off knowing what's going on :P. Also, your lines are at the very, very end, so it's not like I can keep anything a secret from you then :P. No, you won't have to read the full script, I can sum that up for you.

Have skype, can do it whenever you want. If you want to hear me do the lines before I can do them on vocaroo or skype. PM me in game.

PM me in game anytime

It's a lot easier then that for an idiot to sound smart on the internet.

That's exactly what you're doing right now... just saying.

On Skype with me will be fine. I have a call recording program to capture the voice acting :^_^:

I'll PM you on Tip.It with the lines and plot summary so you know the tone of the video, and I'll try to get ahold of you ingame
