look for a shading tut

to be honest none of thoose shading ones have different answers

1) get a highlight colour

2)Place highlights on bits tht stick up (eg nose tip, cheek bones, creases, nearest to lightsource armour parts)

3)Work outwards from these hihglights with normally like 2 or 3 shades of darkening colour

4)Add a deep shadow colour

As for linework remove any excess pixels tht r not necessary for the line

eg 3 pixel making a corner shape in a diagonal line, remove the corner of it to get a 2 pixel line

1. Clean lines? Pixel linework is a 1 pixel width line, I don;t see how it could get messy. Unless you mean messy libework, which basically means redoing them.

2. Skin is dull, so not too many bright highlights.

3. Use appropriate colours in whatever program you will be using, and pick a lightsource. Shade it lighter towards the lightsource, taking into account the shape of the object.

4. Clothes are another dull object, just use the right colours.

5. See number 3.

6. Armour is shiny, so you are allowed bright highlights.

7. Pick the colour of the metal you'll be using, and make yourself a small scale, max 7 colours and go from light to dark. Armour is usually curved, so make sure you look at a guide about curved metal, and how it reflects. I don't have a link, but googling something usually helps.

You be best picking a style of shading before starting. Will you just go straight from one colour to the next shade (Godslayer does this very well). Will you dither (I think Terley does this).

Good luck with pixelling Jaguar, I enjoyed PKing with HoF :D

Basically cut off the pixel joining them so that the lines are joined diagonally (not in all cases, but most).

2. Skin is always hard, my advise to you is too look in the mirror or at other peoples and study it (don't stare and random people or you might get like beat up or something).. but the colour changes between light and shade and pretty drastic but there are colours inbetween that blend them in.

3. See #2.

4. Gradual shades, no drastic differences in light and shade, pay attention to the form of whatever is underneath the clothes and add that to the shading.. also don't forget creases and possibly dirt depending on what it's like.

5. See #4.

6. Very different to the others, Metal armour tends to have a very shiny surface, so its very light where the light is coming from, then goes straight to normal, then the shade forms most of the shape of the armour.

7. See #6.

Any other questions just ask :P

Lowgravity, I want to be just like you. But...I never will be as 1337 as you. :(
