OK so i see where it says items needed cat can u use a kitten or does it have to be fully grown,if so how long does it take to grow?

It can be a cat or kitten. It takes around 3 hours to grow according to rune wiki.

If you right click the summoning icon near the mini map while your kitten is out, you can see the remaining time till it grows into a cat (in %).
