I have a piece of junk Dell laptop, and it has a 30gb harddrive, but now it's full. I don't want to bother with any upgrading or such, because I'll be getting a new computer for college in the summer.

 

 

 

I think I want an external harddrive, but I have some questions.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I can swap the drive from one computer to another, right?

 

 

 

I can use it to store my music, and my iPod will still be able to sync with it?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Lastly, does anyone know a model or brand that will get me the most bang for my buck? I don't want to bother with something less than 100gb or more than $150 or $200.

As for what drive to get, my suggestion would be to get a normal IDE drive of 200GB size and an enclosure which effectively turns it into an external drive. These enclosures can be found at most computing shops and it shouldn't be hard for a layperson to assemble either.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

All of that together should be a fair bit cheaper than getting an external drive.
