Some suggestions to Runescape clans

Featured Replies

Being a long time member of a clan, I realized just how inconvenient some features of RS clans were, especially since our clan owner is inactive and has not left clan yet. There were also other minor inconveniences. Here are just a few small fixes I would like to be seen:

- Overseer+ should be able to rank (not derank) other members to overseer+. (Or whatever the minimum rankup rank is.) A lot of times it's painful if the current owners + deputies are inactive, and all the current active admins cannot rank others the same rank as themselves.

- Add an option to "replace" the current clan owner, in case the owner becomes inactive.

- Add the ability to vote for a deputy/owner for the clan.

- Allow members from other clans to post on a clans' official RS forumpage.

- Remove the 2000 character limit on posts.

- For those not in clans, there should be a replacement item, so that clanless people may use the clan vexillum teleport.

- Remove the 500 members cap.

Thoughts?

The vote thing you can kinda do yourself via the citadel meeting rooms anyway.

The replace thing I see abuse issues, besides there is a system already in place for when they quit.

The rank thing I disagree with. Ranks cannot effect people of the same rank or higher to avoid abuse of system and maintain power chains.

If an overseer has power to alter all other overseers what's to stop them turning on powers for themselves that higher ups do not want them to have? Or stop them from demoting/kicking all other overseers in a power trip? Or promoting all their friends straight up into the same rank to mess with things?

I think it works fine the way it is that ranks can only alter people lower than themselves (other than the leader of course); it still has some abusable loopholes inevitably but not such drastic ones as if you open up editting your own rank to people.

The rest I'm kinda indifferent too, though I don't see a huge need for a vex replacement for non-clan people. Cabbageport and fally tele amoung others already dump you in that general area and it's not like non-clan folks have a massive need to get to the clan portal fast on a regular basis.

Nonono, I suggested the rankup thing to apply only to those lower, but you cannot derank people of the same rank as you.

For instance, an overseer has the ability to promote a general to overseer, but cannot derank any overseer.

This one SUPPORTs all of your ideas, except the thing about "Allow members from other clans to post on a clans' official RS forumpage." because that one seems open for abuse of some kind. :-k
