Today as I was adding Toadflax to vial's of water to make unfinished potions, I received a piece of the Herblore rock.

EDIT: Just got second rock, so both Herblore pieces in 6 inventories of making unfinished.

I was under the impression that Herblore rock pieces were only obtained from cleaning herbs or adding secondary ingredients to unfinished potions as it is stated in Tip.it's Shattered Heart guide:

 

Cleaning herbs and using secondary ingredients on unfinished potions; barbarian mixes do not count.

 

Either this is a recently added method of obtaining Herblore rock pieces, or was just left out of the guide. It should be added that making unfinished potions can produce strange rock pieces.
