March 12, 201214 yr Whenever I open RS, it says that Java is not installed. Java is installed. The computer says I'm running 6.29, but it believe it has already updated to 6.31, which is current. I have attempted to uninstall Java, but windows says that the file ending in "jre1.6.0_17.msi" (the installer) does not exist. Searches for this file yield nothing. I have also attempted to simply install Java without uninstalling, and after downloading the new installer, it still insists that the same file is missing. I've done everything listed in the "RS doesn't work" thread, cleared every cache, etc. Any ideas?
March 12, 201214 yr Are you currently running RS using a broswer (eg. IE, Firefox, Chrome, Opera) or using the RS client? If using the installer failed try downloading the offline version of Java download, it has helped me get through a few error messages in the past. If the above fails there is a, bit more aggressive, way of taking care of your problem through deleting some old registry entries using Regedit in Windows.
March 12, 201214 yr Author I tried the offline installer and it gave me the same error message. How does the regedit thing work?
March 12, 201214 yr First, run this test to see if you actually have it installed: http://java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp After that I'll see if I can help any.
March 14, 201214 yr Author Fixed it. The comp had some viruses, but thankfully my roommates work for geek squad and fixed it up. Java itself wasn't the problem. Thanks for your help anyway, guys. :D
