It's important to note that the latest java version, Java 7, isn't too good with RuneScape, and Java 6 is still being updated at a rather nice pace and works perfectly with RuneScape. You can use the guide at http://kb.swiftkit.net/question-runescape-wont-load.html to help you remove all java and install the correct version, I would try that and see if it helps.
