Hi I am seeking some help. I am not a rule breaker in anyway and this is my first time I have been muted. But anyways, I was seeing all the bots advertising a website called "rswalmart" that sells gold. Well I asked some guy what that was and the next thing I know I was muted for 2 days without any warning. I was going to try to make an appeal on the forums but it said I was banned. Then I went to my account settings and went under account status, it said I was muted and I could make appeal under offence history or something like that. Well there was no where that said offence history so I was wondering if anyone can tell me where that is?

You got a pmod mute, and by the sounds of it a bit of a trigger happy pmod at that.

 

It'll expire in 2 days to no detriment to you, but it is more likely to be removed in a few hours after customer services jmod ppl review the mute (as they do with all pmod mutes)

That would actually be the auto mute filter, which Jagex kindly designed to look exactly like pmod mutes because they we're having trouble generating enough bad press on their own, and really needed the help. They also make it really hard to know the system actually exists unless you already know about it, because the first step in getting people to stop saying certain things is to make sure you never tell them what they did wrong (to complete it's mimicry of a pmod mute, it doesn't supply evidence).

 

There was a problem a while back with players tricking other players into saying the name of that site to get them muted by the filter.

That's very unsettling ...at least it was corrected. Best to just avoid anything involving real world trading I'd say.

I don't think people should be auto-muted for a word, as it limits the ability to talk freely :/

haha I got muted once for telling two peeps who were trying to sell an account to do so elsewhere, and quickchat is not fun at all
