Leaping fish still require some dicking around to drop because the first option is to cut, you you will either have to manual drop or you can use the action bar with mousekeys to drop, that being something to consider. From memory, you get about 90-100k/h using Lobsters + Urns, but that could be a bad number, so someone will be able to correct I'm sure.

 

Is flingers worth it - yes. In game time only (disregarding wait time etc), flingers gets to be 100k/h+, so it's nice a experience bonus. That said, given how long it takes to get it (days wise due to limited tickets), I wouldn't put off fishing just because you haven't got it. Work towards it with flingers as an experience gaining object I guess.
