Idle
Hey there, I very recently returned to the game after an absence of 3 years or so. I'm relatively up to date with some of the major changes (various guides have been helpful in getting up to speed!), though I do find Evolution of Combat rather confusing. :3 I came back with the express purpose of making a DiY (Do it Yourself) account in order to experience parts of Runescape which I'd previously neglected, and to play the game at a slower and more casual pace than before. I'm aware that major stuff like getting Runecrafting to 54, Magic to 55, getting the ability to wear rune and to Manage My Kingdom are all good milestones to aim for in the medium term - but what else is helpful or important when being self sufficient? Any other goals I should aim for ~ working on the easy diaries at the moment. Also, is there a DiY friend or clan chat out there? Thanks in advance.
Vezon Dash
There used to be a few DIY blogs in the Blogscape section of these forums, and I'm sure some of those guys would love to help. You might also just take a look around at what methods they used for specific skills since I don't really know if any of them view the Help and Advice board. GM Dutch
I have done the same to get to know into the EoC and this how i did it. I created a new account named Militus without drop trades or item transfering etc. few weeks before EoC was launched I started to train some mining but more importand, some smithing too. I trained my combat lvls based on the smithing lvl i had. its around the lvl 60 now so i can make mithril wapons. Its importand to know the weakness of your opponents to decide were to train your combat. i started on goblins.. Between rimmington mine and port sarim. They are easy to kill by using the abilities you unlock in order. I provided myself with schrimps that I fished myself on the westcoast of the same area. I did cut my own logs to burn the food. That way you train many skills at ones. Also a citadel based cc is an huge help to boost up skills like mining and smithing. Also for a bit more basic knowledge about the EoC i would advice to do the tutorial too. - Get/make your own wapons and armour and mine your own runes to do so- fish and cook your own food- try the abilities out no matter what the ability is to get used to it right after you unlock them- don't skip the tutorial A well that is how i did it  and about your diarys, that is a good way to get some money and xp rewards :-) keep that up! rsn changed for a short period of time to: GM Dutch
Boris5000
The task system provide ample ways of acquiring GP early on and get you important items (like the explorer ring).Quests are also invaluable for access to areas and get good items. I found the best way to acquire your items would be from training slayer, slayer specific monsters tend to drop lots of decent items along with seeds for farming and clue scrolls (hard ones ofc, your main source of income and rune items). The seeds you get will provide you with herbs and such for farming and the crops can be used as alternative foods, should you not want to fish for food (which you should do). Paying attention to monster weaknesses is important (as stated), some easy to acquire items you might want to set goals for to aid in combat are:Torag's Hammer, Crystal Bow (it might be expensive at first, but gets cheaper) and of course, an abyssal whip. The important thing to do with DiY accounts is to be patient :P Luck be a Lady
