Fake Jagex lawsuit

Featured Replies

Hello all.

I'm just popping in to ask all of you to start reporting that fake email floating around to the FTC, as I've received one and I don't even have an acct. I googled and looked at other forums about this scam and some people have actually clicked on the link! Oh my.

The only way to get these things to stop is by reporting them, and the FTC.gov site has a very simple form now to fill out. It'll take about 5min.

Cheers!

Hi there, and welcome to Tip.It Forums aka the Rune Tips Community. :)

So that you know, it might help for everyone if you would provide a URL to the site in question so that everyone can land at the correct place to make those reports to the FTC. ;)

Other than that, have fun around the community, and don't forget to check the Forum Games! :D

I really feel if more people report this it will stop. Especially because it can look so scary to younger people. There is a comment section at the end of the FTC's complaint form and I copy/pasted the paragraphs which said I would be taken to court for non response, and made sure to include the CA "case" #.

Slightly off topic, I had a "lawfirm" call me and tell me I was being served with a subpoena over the phone! OR I could give them my checking acct # and it would all go away. After I stopped laughing and informed him that subpoenas are served in person, I asked for their address. The guy on the other end of the line kept asking why did I need that when I had their name. Any legitimate lawfirm would have no problem in giving me that info. He got really mad and hung up on me. I love when that happens. lol I looked them up and lo and behold no such lawfirm existed anywhere, and reported them also. The FTC takes these things very seriously. You can even call in person if you wish at 1-877-382-4357.

I hope this all helps and people take this info seriously. NEVER click on a link or give out personal info, especially any access to credit cards or bank accts! I did do this once 15 yrs ago and luckily the bank and I scared the company into giving my money back and for good measure put a stop payment on the transaction. Then I cancelled my bank acct and opened a new one.

So use my experience and solutions before your credit and identity is messed up!

Oooo and I love gaming (that darn 1st Zelda game) so I will check out the Forum Games.
