Skill or too kill?

Featured Replies

On a DIY account what should i be focusing on? I don't know whether I want to train skills up or my combat up? :s

Runescape is a haven..

Use combat to stock up on raws like pure essence/ores/logs and use those to skill.

DIY as in no trading at all - or MM9 status where you sell your outputs and might buy things like armour/weapons but train your skills by gathering the mats yourself?

I find it best to skill and knock out early quests to get a nice boost in combat stats. It really helps and from there on out I would be doing slayer for your killing purposes. The way I see DIY is absolutely no trading, apart from heroes and shield of arav, and getting the best use of your time possible, which includes not spending countless hours grinding at experiments just for the cb xp. Thats the way I see it. Hope it helped.

Diying presents some challenges I might not be aware of, so take this advice with some caution

Assuming your goal is a completionist cape, you generally want to get quests done as quickly as possible in order to maximize the impact of the xp rewards and training methods. You can probably find a good list of quests to start with in the 07 forum.

Once the op quests (waterfall etc) are done, knock out all the novice quests, then do the important, harder ones (like the vampire series is necessary for crafting because temple trekking is good for silver bars), then keep working your way up.

Then there isn't much point of combat other than certain drops (Automatons) is faster than gathering it yourself or cuts down on the time you'll need to gather them yourself (runes/pure ess from slayer, etc.)
