So I Got Hacked...

Featured Replies

A little over a year ago, my character PureHotness (a level 73 pure warrior) was hacked by some loser. I was extremely aggravated by this because the person who hacked him continually played on him, and acted like he was the real owner. I know this because I added him to my other character's friends list, and tried talking to him.

Since all my recovery questions were codes, I simply couldn't remember them. I had them written down on a piece of paper, but I lost it, which screwed me over very bad. Back then, if you didn't know your recovery questions, and someone hacked your account, that meant the sad end to it.

I've recently decided to play Runescape again, trying to get Purehotness back through their improved "recover a lost password" page. After answering a few of their questions, they still ain't giving me my account back. The questions included what passwords I've ever used on him (I remembered the first one I've ever used, and another one), and additional info on what happened.

Hi,

Unfortunately you have not provided us with enough information in order for us to issue you with a new password.

To regain control of this account could you please provide us with the following information, where possible giving earlier account information since this gives stronger evidence us to verify you as the rightful owner of this account:

Contact Details:

The postcode/zipcode and email address details that you created the account with.

I'm trying to remember my postal code (I've come up with two out of the possible three), and I accidentally didn't include my original e-mail in the second attempted form (which I'm not too sure of).

Has anyone else been in the same situation I'm in? As of now, it seems like the Jagex team is a bunch of heartless robots that only wanna piss you off. You'd think they'd give you your account back from remembering your first two passwords, because honestly, who else would know that besides an extremely skilled hacker with no life?

My suggestion? Jagex, please make your more questions on your password support form, and make it so the "additional info" box can hold more than one paragraph. It's annoying as hell that I can't tell you my full story.

I bet maybe only one out of a hundred people get their account back using that form. You guys make it so damn hard, it's ridiculous.

It's called an auto response from a computer (or heartless robot as you called it). Also, this seems to be a rant. By the way, maybe when you lost your paper with your recovery answers on it, you should've changed them. (I change mine every couple months)

if you feel safe that you dont have a keylogger or something on your pc put your recovery q's in text file and save it somewhere where you'll know it is thats what i have done, no losing it then just advice for next time that is i guess

why can't u remember ur postal code?
