May 5, 201511 yr Every time I run my client I get a message saying "You can now use the RuneScape client in your browser." And I usually just leave the page immedieantly since if I wanted to play RuneScape in my browser I wouldn't have downloaded that client to begin with. Does anyone know how to get rid of that dialog box? Maybe it's offering me to download a new version, but that's not what it seems like to me. It does seem to offer me to use the client in a browser.
May 5, 201511 yr Is it this dialog box? There's a new version of the client available that you can download. I'm not sure if there are any other substantial updates, but it does make the local timestamp feature work properly. I'd recommend downloading it for security reasons in any case, but it's up to you. May 5, 201511 yr Author Well the text alone that says "You can launch the client directly from the RuneScape website." is what's giving me the idea that it's ran in my browser. If I'm wrong, I'll gladly download it.
May 5, 201511 yr I think all that means is that if you open the link to play it in your browser, it will launch the client for you (or is supposed to, at any rate). May 5, 201511 yr In other words, you navigate to the page (runescape.com/game.ws or whatever the address is) and it gives you a link to click which launches the RuneScape client in its own window - not in the browser. You can't really run it in some browsers (like Chrome) anymore since they aren't supporting or are stopping support shortly for Java. May 5, 201511 yr Author I am gonna download it. But I don't want a bottom on my firefox browser though, it's bad enough I had to get rid of the skype icon in my firefox. I will just open the client from my desktop. I don't have to worry about that if I don't add an ad-on to my firefox.
May 5, 201511 yr Well I've just updated myself and I think you'll be happy to know - no added icon in Firefox or anywhere else :). May 5, 201511 yr The button is not an addon for your browser, it's a button on the runescape website. If your browser does not support Java, the button will launch the downloadable client(Only works with the recent version).
