Computer Build Thread (That's the only thing allowed in this forum, right?)

Featured Replies

So I wanna buy parts on Monday for a new pc, but I can't decide between these 2 builds. I've never built a pc before, so I'm not super confident in my ability to compare them.

The "$1,000 GAMING PC (VR-READY)" build on this page:

https://elitegamingcomputers.com/top-gaming-computers/#30

And this build:

https://pcpartpicker.com/guide/jBWG3C/modest-gaming-build

The first build has better hardware, but it's about $200 more expensive, and I don't know how to tell if it's worth the extra money.

Usage will mostly just be general use stuff with light gaming. I really, really, would like it to be able to multi-task well, because my current laptop does not, and nothing makes me more sad.

My budget is a soft $1000, but both of these are under that and hopefully cyber monday deals will make it even cheaper, so that's not a big concern.

So yeah, if anyone could help me compare them, that'd be awesome.

You know, its a lot more fun to open up your computer and add things gradually... its like buying a personalized birthday cake rather than one that comes off of an assembly line. ;)

I'd need a desktop to add things to for that to be an option. In terms of picking my own parts, I tried at first, but stepping straight into that with no experience is a bit too big of a step, and I felt I could use this as a first step to get my feet wet without feeling overwhelmed.

I did go out of the way to buy a used Xeon Desktop. I know its hypocritical but, it was a PC that I could have thrown together myself. 1000 Dollars is a great price for a new gaming tower, although it might be overkill if you are planning to play RuneScape on iit. Good luck, also try craigslist or kijiji.
