DVI to VGA Converter (Monitor)

Featured Replies

I currently have a graphics card that allows me to do multi monitors. However, it only has 1 VGA and 1 DVI. At the moment my moniter only has a VGA connector, so it means I would have to buy a monitor with DVI. But these can be a little bit more than monitor that only have VGA.

What I was wanting to know is, Would a DVI to VGA connecter be the same as a VGA to DVI converter.

(Meaning that a converter that can change a monitor that has a DVI connector to a VGA is the same as a converter that can change a monitor that has a VGA to a DVI connector.)

Hope you understand what I'm asking.

Thanks.

I don't understand what you're asking about if they're 'the same', but I can tell you that if you get a DVI-VGA converter you can use 2 monitors.

I used to have 1x VGA output and 1x DVI and I'd just use a DVI-VGA converter to use 2 monitors, now I have got 2x DVI outputs and just use 2x DVI-VGA converters.

Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be.

VGA to DVI and DVI to VGA are different.

The VGA to DVI, converts a VGA slot to a DVI slot . While a DVI to VGA converts a DVI to a VGA. So they are opposites.

You would want to buy a 'DVI female to VGA female'. They only cost a few dollars, I brought one last week.

Now that I think about it, you probably could also purchase a 'VGA male to a DVI male'... but I have not seen any around.

I hope I did not confuse you anymore :)
