blade995
Yes there is. 2x 512mb sticks would be better than 1x 1gb stick because the two 512 sticks can run in dual channel and produce more bandwidth. 512mb sticks usally have better timmings than the 1gb sticks which is how fast the memory can respond. Vape
However, if the PC has two RAM slots then if you buy one 1gb stick and if you want to upgrade - if you buy another 1gb stick, you'll have 2gb of ram, whereas if you had the two 512mb sticks and you bought a 1gb stick, you'd only end up with 1.5gb. Where the bloody hell are you?
____
2x512 dual channel is barely better than a single 1gb stick.
dwarfie76
2x512 dual channel is barely better than a single 1gb stick. You won't notice any difference in day to day computing, but RAM intesive processes such as applying photoshop filters etc might be noticeably faster. But then, if you were using photoshop on a regular basis you'd be running more than 1G RAM.
