Newbie to guitar

I'm interested in teaching myself the guitar. I've wanted to learn it for about five years now, but I haven't been able to scrape together enough money after my computing hobby until now. I plan on playing classic rock, older hard rock, and 80s metal. I've put together the following setup with the help of some people I know:

I am buying everything from Musician's Friend, a high-rated store as far as music stores go, and everyone I know who has bought from them say they are an honest company. I can stretch to $400 including shipping, the above is $350 with shipping.

Everything is ok, but I think you can get a better guitar with the same price.
