Danabis
http://www.rondomusic.net/bassguitars4.html Agile make very, very good quality instruments for their price. Any of those basses would be great for a beginner, and a few of them would last you a good while. TheEmoSanta
If you're not looking to spend a lot of money Ibanez Basses are pretty good If you are looking to throw around a lot of cash, Then Jackson basses are to my own preference.. great playability and sound
lifelike23
just look into getting a squire p-bass there's not much else that could beat a cheap squire in terms of being quite a realistic bass for a newbie.
Danabis
Just looking through agile: http://www.rondomusic.net/sb301.html Seems to be unbelievable for the price. Definately check that out if you can dig the looks. Squier's are horrid playability.. not to say the Fender counterparts are much better

How2PK
Not that I know anything about it. But it might be useful to go to a shop and get information there. They can probably give you better information than you would get on the forum. Just an idea though. Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore! Stores like Guitar Centre etc will just try and sell you the most expensive piece of [cabbage] they can. I can give him just as good advice on what to buy as any shop assistant could. I assumed that when you will get your first instrument you won't get it at somekind of shop that isn't interested in giving you the best information. And I wasn't saying your information was bad, Dan, it just seems better when you go to a good shop for your information than randomly ask people on a gaming forum. Nahdrav
I would reccomend against getting an acoustic bass if youre just starting, theyre unbelievably hard to play since theyre oh so ridiculously big
