Useful tips about signatures.

Featured Replies

Now as we all know, the limit for a signature here is: 300x150x30kb. Keep that in mind. Always.

This is just a collection of information I have noticed over time here. :)

If anyone finds this helpful, post and make sure it's as accurate as possible.

---Pixels---

Hard to master but definately popular.

Since they are so popular, people will pay alot for them if done well. (But as of now, Jagex have made this illegal).

They don't especially need advanced programs to do (Paint).

As most will know, first pixel sigs are rarely decent. Only really post them here if you yourself believe it is really good.

---Abstract---

Its hard to do well*, but its easy to get into.

Although even when done well, people don't tend to pay much for them. :| (Or they do sometimes apparently @_@)

To be done well they need advanced program(s) (Photoshop and Imageready for animations)

Read some tutorials, just putting some random filters one after another rarely amounts to something worthwhile.

*Well, it depends on your style, I guess.

---General---

Never, ever save as a JPEG. Save as a PNG or else a GIF, only if PNG is too big to use.

Better program does not mean it is necessarily easier (for pixels atleast).

Just because the limit here is 300x150 does not mean it has to be that, I prefer to make my signatures around 300x100. It depends on the render for abstract though.

Get some good fonts, i've used an original font (I.E. Comic Sans, Times New Roman) about once. Remember to make the font logical with the background. If it is a smooth background don't have a sharp font.

If you are requesting a signature, post it in a currently open shop or PM a signature maker. NEVER MAKE YOUR OWN TOPIC, it's just spam really.

Well, if you know anything else that should be here, be sure to post it here or PM it to me. :)

Thanks to: (Name colour matches correction)

That's a good introduction!

But well, you might wanna add in this after the sentence in "Pixel".

"Since they are so popular, people will pay alot for them if done well. (But Jagex had made it a rules that NO RUNESCAPE CASH/ITEMS are allowed to trade for signatures/avvy or any other image concerned)."

And regarding the "Abstract",

"Although even when done well, people don't tend to pay much for them. "

Well, I've seen people sold "abstract sig" for million bucks. :) And me, myself had sold two for 400k before. So it's not quite true that people doesn't pay much for them. :)

You might wanna add in this.

"To be done well they need advanced program(s), like Photoshop or ImageReady for animations."

Just my two cents worth!

^o^ *wiggle*

Then hopefully people will see this and take notice :|. I hate seeing that there are about 3 topics about "Free sigs!" and then theres always 1 or more topics like "OGM!1 MakE mE A SigGGy pL0X!?".

And to be brutally honest, id like it if Jagex would allow sig selling for RS cash. Atleast it would cut down on the "MakE ME A siG for Fre!11! cus U cnT trdE fR Rs CasH!". This is just an excuse for not paying. "Let them eat cake".
