Hi, for some reason the high detail version of runescape doesn't work at all. Even after a reformat. This is the screen that I get stuck on:

 

 

 

 

 

 

It says loading please wait but it never changes, just stays like that. Low Detail works fine and my computer is way more than confident for playing at high detail.

 

 

 

Any ideas?

 

 

 

(both Firefox and IE get the same problem)

Hmm, try searching for File_store_32, and erase all the files in that folder. That is the folder that holds all runescape game data you recive from the servers. It is possibly you recived a corupted highdetail file that wont let you load highdetail, which would be fixed by erasing the files and reloading runescape :P

The folder in questions is

 

 

 

Winxp & Win9x - C:\WINDOWS\.file_store_32

 

Win2k - C:\WINNT\.file_store_32

 

 

 

remove it completely and let runescape download itself again ;)

I'm downloading the files now, I'll update my progress

it didn't work when I tried updating with Firefox, so im trying IE now. If not i' bummed

 

 

 

 

 

 

This is as far as I can get, after a few lines of text, I don't recieve anything. I'm starting to try different servers

 

 

 

[uPDATE] I got my friend to copy his files out of his folder and send them to me. Now I can roam around a little until the game locks up.

Hmm, i dont know what to tell you. Does your computer act weird with any other java?

I would defintely recommend trying all the options for java (found in a drop down menu on bottom of detail select page) and let us know the results , it would help to track the source of the problem :)

Im pretty sure its not a bug in the game, clearing the files would have fixed that already, and if it is, why isnt it affecting anyone else? Have you noticed any graphic glitches latly? Mabey you need a new graphics card, but i dont know what to tell you, sorry.

It worked fine a few months ago though. And I doubt my 6600gt is the problem. Actually, one of my friends is also experiencing this as well

I've tried about 5 different Java games and they all work flawlessly so from this I can come to two conclusions:

 

 

 

1. My java is to blame so I need the version number of a compatible version.

 

 

 

2. The game has a hardware incompatibility with my PC (remember it didn't used to).

Hmm, intresting, So your computer has over 2gb of ram?

2gbs of RAM exact.

 

That fix worked, now the game runs like butter.

 

 

 

This thread might be worthy of a sticky because I doubt i'm the only runescape player with 2gb of RAM
