On Desert Tresure do you actually need 53 thief or can you just use a lock pick or buy 1 without stealing from bandits?

You can buy lock picks in the rogues den or pick them up as a respawn in the agility dungeon. There is no skill requirement to use one as far as I'm aware but there may be a skill requirement on the lock to be picked.

Oh and its only lv 32 to pickpocket rogues.

 

 

 

The 52 refers to the level at which they are found in the wildy.

From what I heard, you must have lvl 53 thieving to pick the chest.

 

 

 

I also recommend bring many dozens of those lockpicks, just in case.

I see what you meant. Whether or not you have a lock pick you still need to have the right level to open the trunk, it doesn't change that.

 

 

 

I always bought my lock picks in the rogues den. Talk to the guy called Martin something-or-other, he sells them in batches of 20ish.

 

 

 

THe first time I did DT I went through loads of lock picks so buy plenty.

Bring plenty of picks, but you can get a drink, I don't remember exactly which, that raises theifing a few levels. Mostly, I would recomend getting it as high as you are willing, as you WILL fail allot on that chest.

It might be worth bringing a few noted ones, not sure if theres a general shop nearby, but if there is, do that.

you can also thief lockpicks from rogues if u dont want to buy them.

You must have 53 to even start the quest, you need 53 theiving to pick the chest with the lockpicks, without that you will get no where in the quest.
