i think this idea is rediculous, why have another almost useless skill thats completely dependant on another skills

u think skills that are totaly dependant on other skills are stupid?

smithing- u cant make armour without mining ores...

fletching- whats a use of this skill? u make arrows for ranged!!!

firemaking- u cant make a fire out of air! u need to cut woods, and thats woodcutting!

are these skills stupid?

totally right, why do you think firemaking is so stupid...

=> because it is only related to woodcutting and has no use 8)

if hunting would be a complete independant skill, it would be boring/stupid/useless.

and the guy who said it would only give rangers an advantage :

maybe spears would be better and be P2P only and arrows would be worse and for F2P so rangers in F2P (who dont have much advantages) at least have some good reason to train it

by the way:

i'm very happy for the latest posts since they are so positive, if some of you is P2P and likes the idea => plz post on official suggestion forum

This Hunting system you've conjured up is very interesting and I think it could be something really good.

Maybe make a new place you can take a boat too to add to shipping to Ardougne, Karamja, Brimhaven?

From viewing the tip.it map (here) there's a nice space between Ogre City and Shilo Village for an Island to do this hunting

Also, maybe only make it possible to ship to the Island by doing a quest? Maybe something like The Lost Hunter? And the Ardougne Counceiler (you don't really use him much only for 1 quest) has lost his son (the hunter) and you have to go find him on the Hunting isle. A bit like the Chompy Bird Hunting quest or something? Then the counceiller gives you some items (hunting items) to find his son, then it just goes on and on and the reward is to keep the items and access to the island when you want for 30gp? (Ship Trip)

I'm also loving the idea of this Summon skill.

You could also mix agility in to this. In the park you need agility to get to different zones, for exemple some agility to climb to mountains, where would be some kind of mountain animal etc... i think every one got the point. Furthermore you could make with your thieving skills trap to animals, thease traps could be maybe bought or crafted... (mammoth trap  )

And ranged and combat levels would be needed to take down thease animals with out traps, so you would either need combat/range, or thieving to get thease animals killed. Thease horns could be maybe added to your armours, giving some bonuses/weaknesses, to get rs more kind of armours which are all good against some other kind of armour, but also weak vs something, maybe they could also be used with mortar and they could be second ingredits in new pots or even furthermore used in spells

Well never think rs is going to keep as the way it is. Allways when you find something fun sooner or later it will be changed to be different.

the only question i have then is :

why a new skill(i think other guys said it b4 in this post), if its a mixture of evertything...

it could be a big minigame

but then i think: cmon man, new skill are always cool

Yes hunting would not need to be anew skill. It could be jsut like a minigame, with needs many different skills to play. Hunting it self couldnt never be big enough for its own skill, or atteleast it wouldnt be a good skill. But it would be cool to shoot squirels in a park  Or why not mammoths. This could also lead to new pets, such as dogs which could be used in hunting.

I think that with things like Bear Fur, you should be able to make things like fur coats - of course only if you had a relatively high crafting lvl...

Also fur helm like things that for eg the red indians used to wear as a symbol of leadership etc etc..

i think you get the idea :)

like would this be members only or could the f2p's make arrows that r worse than bronze arrows as a crafting xp and use that?but not be able to take the arrows out?,i would like it as an experiance;....

but other than that,i think a bad idea cuz f2p can make cakes, choc cakes, and other good healing stuff w/o fishing, plus ur drywhen ur on the computer unless u get on after a shower or the pool,my point is,if u don't like getting wet, thats fine but runescape IS NOT REAL;ITS A GAME!!!!!!!!,the water from the virtual sea is not gonna become real and burst out of ur computer monitor

what... the hell... are you.... talking about..?

ASINE has a valid point, you already get the same rewards (more or less) from just killing bears in the forest...

That aside, I do like the idea. If you had to pay several thousands of gps to get into the higher level "parks" (with mammoths etc) I think that it would be a nice money sink too.

I like the idea zimbe posted about being able to get pets to help you hunt as well. Perhaps this could be incorporated into the hunting skill as a consolation to the people hoping for summoning? You could call wolves ('summon' them) from the wild :)

I'm not so sure about having this incorporated with range, as it seems like such a popular and widely leveled skill already... You could definitely have ties to crafting, and maybe fletching too. Perhaps include herblore so you could make scented lures for the beasts? I think it would be nice to include the less popular skills like herblore, crafting, and agility (climbing mountains, as was stated earlier) into this skill. People need a reason to level those up more.

anyway: good, well presented idea.

ty for ur significant comment :D

i hope that people who read this toppic will also read the comments and form a general idea with it.

because how its described at the first page, isnt totally what i have in mind now(i like the other ideas suggested).

also i like the herblore tie you suggested, and the agility thing u "suggested"( actually repeated)

and for the people who say: stop bumping old topics:

read it and you know why i do this.
