I've been in a long distance relationship for nearly 1.5 years now and it can be incredibly, almost painfully difficult. But somehow we've managed to make it work and it has never gotten boring :) It seems we never run out of things to talk about, which definitely helps I suppose. As for your question, my boyfriend and I like to watch movies/TV shows "together" even though we're not physically with each other. We follow most of the same TV shows so anytime a new episode comes out we always watch it at the same time so we can talk/laugh about it together. We also play games together whenever we find one we're both interested in. To add to this ^ I was in a (mostly) long distance relationship for 2.5 years; we lived about eight or nine hours apart (she was in San Francisco while I was near LA). Keeping things interesting with Skype (if you know what I mean) helps a lot. I'm not sure what your relationship is like, Jackalope, but for us it was pretty easy to be apart because of how independent and goal-oriented we were/are. Maintain an interest in everything she does, and vice-versa. I always liked to do little things like sending her letters, poetry, etc -- little surprises like that are a huge plus. You just have to really go out of your way to keep it interesting, never becoming complacent or "used" to it. Definitely seeing each other in person every few months helped us, and we eventually moved in together in San Francisco. Not sure how much that helps. Oh, when you eventually move in with her, always make the bed. You can be the greatest boyfriend in the world but failure to make the bed will ignite a fury unheard of and she will bring the house down upon your head with a world-burning wrath. I've seen it happen. Thank you both for those ideas! Yeah, I definitely like the idea of watching movies/tv shows together. I have also been looking on Yahoo! games to try to find fun multiplayer games we could play once in a while. I know it will be tough, but I just want to make sure it wont get boring. Im sure I'll incorporate the letters idea too. I just wish I were a bit more creative with that kind of stuff haha :) Good to see there are other people out there who are making it work though!

So I am in a relationship right now and in September we are going to be 6 hours apart. I am guessing that we will be engaged by the time we are apart, but I still want to find ways to make the relationship exciting while we are apart. Anyone have experience with long distance relationships? If so, any advice or unique ideas on how to keep the relationship from becoming stagnant (besides talking on the phone/skype/visiting each other since we will be doing that)?

Even if the story was "fake", it's easily something that could happen and nobody would be surprised if it appeared on BBC, CNN etc. But if it is fake I dont see any reason to be arguing the specific event. We can discuss police brutality but there is no point in arguing the article if it is not accurate. We hear all these horror stories about police brutality (most of the time with out knowing the whole story) and it scares the heck out of people, but police do a lot more good than they do bad (not saying that police never act irresponsibly) and it is completely irrational to be "paranoid" of them. Just dont be so quick to jump to conclusions when hearing or seeing about police stories. A lot of time they are exaggerated and you don't see/get all the information. Do you have a source from a respected website? I would like to see a trusted source also. How do so many people keep arguing and not seem to care where this story is coming from? You go to Eden Prairie? Cool. I heard about this and yea its pretty stupid. Looks like mostly the kids in sports got in trouble, which makes sense since they signed a waiver saying they wouldnt do that. Thats just plain wrong. The School would be completely irresponsible to be presented with the photos and then do nothing to the athletes who signed an agreement to not even be at a party with drugs or alcohol.

After all they gained nothing in the gulf war, so why not try again ? I'm not talking about american citiziens, but the american government, which suffers major issues. What does the the Boston Tea Party, the Civil War or the inhumane acts against the Indians have anything to do with this? I mean sure, those things were bad and violent, but a lot of countries have a very violent history. You cant really blame what happens today on what happened 200 years ago. America is definitely not the only one with a violent past.

Umm no. It doesnt. Here you are only allowed to attack if you have no way out of the situation. If someone breaks into your house and you could have easily escaped from the back door but you shoot them anyways, then you can be charged. But if someone comes at you threateningly with a weapon or they just attack you and you have no means of escape than you can (and should IMO) be able to kill/injure them. You are also not allowed to attack them if they are running away from you or running out of your house.

It actually seems to me like it is turning around more and more. There are more documentaries and shows about muslims and the religion of Islam. I hear more people defending muslims than actually being racist towards them. Maybe its just the area I live in or whatever, but its still a good thing.

Well I am Christian and I (I guess Im speaking for my self here but I think most other Christians on this board would agree) do not see any of those posts you quoted as offensive towards or as a hatred of Christianity.
