donutjunkie
ok i just used the smithing and smelting calc. i want to get to level 60 smithing by making cannon balls, i wil buy my own ores and smelt them, then make them into cannon balls, it says i need 12k cannon balls, so will i need 3k iron ore and 6k coal? or does the smelting steel cannon balls include making them into steel abrs first? or odes it assume that i have steel abrs and am just making them into cannon balls directly im so confused i finally quit runescape to play world of warcraft. i play on frostmourne, alliancecheck out my threadhttp://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=479665&highlight=
ishepp
Can't be 100% sure, but I think it assumes you have bars. 12k cannonballs is 3k bars, so 3k iron 6k coal would get it, but you won't need 12k if your smelting steel too. *gets out calculator* 3k steel made to cannonballs=76.5k xp smithing 1 iron ore and 2 coal into 4 cannonballs=43xp so if you make your own bars, 1.8k iron and 3.6k coal will get you the xp. 89/99 farming

tmottbg
On the calculator, there are 3 options: Smithing, smelting, and smithing/smelting. If you use the "smithing" option, it calculates what level you will be after you convert the bars to cannonballs. If you use the "smelting" option, it calculates what level you will be after you convert the ores to bars. If you use the "smithing and smelting" option, it calculates what level you will be after you convert the ores to bars, and bars to cannonballs. Hopefully that wasn't too confusing. OoC Overseer Eet mor kabbig!

dogfever
For every 4 cannonballs you smith (only smith - smelting the bar gets you the standard 17.5xp) you get 25.6xp. Therefore for every four cannonballs you make from 2coal + 1iron (i.e. smelt the steel and smith the balls) you get 43.1xp To work out how may cannonballs you need to make take your xp from the xp required for lv60 divide the answer by 43.1 this will give you the number of steel bars you need (so this much iron and double this much coal) multiply this answer by 4 to get the number of cannonballs you will have when you finish df
