Wire connected Desktop Disconnects With Wireless Router

I've been having this problem with my new wireless router.

 

The problem occurs when the labtop is turned on and connects to the router via wireless.

 

This causes the desktop that is already connected to the router by wire to disconnect repeatedly.

 

The router is a dlink DI524. Any idea how to resolve the problem?

Go into your router and find something called pc database or something like that and change your computer to a fixed ip address eg 192.168.0.5 and see if that fixes it
