  1. theres a bios setting on some motherboards which is sometimes called smart fan control. If it is enabled the fans only switch on when the processor reaches a certain temp and then switch off when it cools down. It sometimes seems to get stuck in a endless loop of it cooling down by a degree or so, switching the fans off then it heats up again fans go on then off and the cycle repeats. You switch it off, if it is in the bios settings, although the fans will be constantly.
  2. You could just uninstall and re install your current antivirus software and you'll get another few months or a years free subscription again.
  3. Type dvd decrypter into google then click the first result. It can rip dvd's as .vob or mountable images.
  4. Is the 12v 4-pin supply (2 yellow & 2 black wires) connected to the socket near the processor, because the motherboard might be under powered.
  5. You could use system restore because your computer should have set restore point before you installed IE7 or if not just find another restore point before IE7.
  6. hard drives are airtight to keep them free from dust, and muck in the air. sometimes people say that you can recover data by freezing a hard drive

  19. nooo not PC World You could: 1. Get another hard rive and install a different os on like XP then slave the hard drive with windows 2000 to it and copy your files. 2. Use some p2p filesharing software on another computer and download windows 2000 and burn it to a cd and try fixing it that way. As I see it, that inst illegal because you already have a copy of windows 2000 on the computer. You will be able to repair to installation without wiping data if you follow the instruction on the CD. You might need to change your computer to boot from CD in the bios. 3. try to get the disk from the person you bought the computer from.

  23. you might need to configure your internet connection. go to tools -> internet options in IE. then make sure it says on the connections never dial a connection then go to the box saying lan setting and select automatically detect settings. Apply these setting and it should be ok.
