i bought a linksys wireless adapter, and install the drivers and put the adapter in the pci slot. it connect to the access point aka the router but not to the internet. any ideas on how to solve this

Is your router connected to your modem and your modem operating correctly?

you might need to configure your internet connection. go to tools -> internet options in IE. then make sure it says on the connections never dial a connection then go to the box saying lan setting and select automatically detect settings. Apply these setting and it should be ok.

i fixed the problem, it was my firewall making it act up
