January 2, 200719 yr I realize this is an extremely touchy issue, the backing up of copyrighted DVD(s). In some countries it's legal, in others it's a no no because paying for the video does not mean you actually own a copy of the movie, just the means to play it on DVD. More on my background. I'm notoriously bad at keeping shiny discs in good conditions, and really love backups. My favorite non-internet game, Hereos of Might and Magic III has required two purchases, and probably would have required more if I hadnt backed it up after I killed the first accidently :( [Actually I dont really mind, it gave a good excuse to go all out with the expansions I had never gotten] Yes, The point of this thread...[/b I'm having difficulty finding information on ways to back up a few of my favorite DVDs for travel. If you've read this far, you might be a curious person, they happen to be M.P Holy Grail, Gladiator, and Lord of War [L.O.W. Since I obviously question whether this would be allowed to be asked at tip.its vaguely slightly over restrictive rules [which in the end i suppose probably help it keep its more intelligent and family friendly community then some other sites], I'm NOT asking for links for programs. I'm trying to find out where I can find more information, as the googlelation has failed. Well, of course, Google never fails, but my searching has failed : ________ Wow. I ramble. Alot.
January 2, 200719 yr Type dvd decrypter into google then click the first result. It can rip dvd's as .vob or mountable images. RSN :: Wooden_Fire Time Zone :: GMT

January 4, 200719 yr The "powers that be" gave the author of DVD Decrypter an ultimatum he couldn't refuse (unfortunate anough to be in a country that followed the USA lead on DMCA-style legislation), so Decrypter is well obsolete now. In a pack with some other tools, Ripit4me uses Decrypter and than "patches up" any remaining deliberate damage. There are many other alternatives, such as Slysoft CloneDVD - originally this was by Elaboratebytes, but ended up with a company based in Antigua (no DMCA there). http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm - the other alternative, it seems the free version was released partly as a protest against the shutdown of DVD Decrypter.
