June 28, 200620 yr I'm afraid I have no idea about sound cards, I haven't used one for years - almost all motherboards come with onboard sound now. As for a graphics card you'll need something of at least 6600GT standard. That means that it or anything above it will do, they're not expensive either. Also be aware that if you do get one of the lower end cards it won't last long at all (with regards to being able to play the latest games). A good value card that should last a while is a 7900GT at ~ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã200. Alternatively you could go a cheaper way and get a 7600GT at ~ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã130 or the lowest end card that will allow it to play being a 6600GT at ~ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã75. All the cards I suggested at PCI-Express, so if you don't have that on your motherboard then you can't use them. If you want an AGP card then you can get a 6800GS but I don't know the pricing on that. Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be.

I play BF2 and just use the onboard sound on my PC As for graphics 128 MB will work on the low detail. I have the first revision of a 6600GT, OpenGL 1.5, 128mb, etc. It plays Quake 4 on high, I'm happy. BF2 plays on a mix between high and medium. Or A 7900GT for $270. This game should run BF2 pretty close to maxed if the rest of your system is good enough. For a sound card, I have an Audigy 2. This sound card cost me $50 and I'm extremely happy with it. Usually onboard sound is DX9 compliant.

Usually onboard sound is DX9 compliant. How can you say the 7600GT is a bad card? It would cruch the 6600GT's. The 7600GT also has pixel shader 3 which would support the newer games. If you want to pay a little more than the 7600GT price get a 1800GTO, 7900GT, 1800XT, or even 1900XT(expensive). For a sound card, anything by creative i suggest.

I don't suggest ATI.. nVidia all the way IMO. + the 7900GT takes a monster of a power supply (something like 450 watts I think). Point is, you'll end up spending another 100$ on a power supply to use that card, deffinitly not something the OP wants. I would go with the 6600GT, although realy the 7600GT is a great card if you want to spend a little extra. (I am planning on upgrading to it soon). Only thing is, do you have a PCI / PCI-E or AGP slot for your video card? This we will need to know. as far as a sound card goes, you realy don't 'need' one because of onboard, however, the audigy 2 is very cheep and is a great sounding card.
July 1, 200620 yr 400watt, which any computer with a PCI-Express slot will probably have. + A 450 watt PSU that is pretty good costs around $40. A 7600GT isn't worth the money in comparison to a 7900GT. 128-bit memory interface vs 256-bit memory interface 16 pipelines vs 24 pipelines (Essential in shaders) Often same watt requirements, although the 7600GT sometimes requires 350W. 6600GT is a little baby, it has 8 pipelines, and can't do shading worth a crap. Turning on dynamic lighting in most games drops my FPS 1/10th of what it was before.. (120 to 15fps on Darkplaces.)

July 2, 200620 yr 7600Gt is all you will need. What are the specs fo your pc? becuase if your Cpu is not up to spec you will not get graphics like on google.
