pokemama
It's a nasty and complex process - one friend of mine used 120 coal trying to get it to work. And I regret to say that the Tip.It quest guide isn't giving accurate instructions. The good thing is that your tar stays in the machine - I am fairly certain that it does not get "used up" and require more tar. You just have to play with it until you get the hang of it. Here's the Tip.It image: Put some coal in (click "Add coal" in the middle on the furnace door). When heat is in green, click the right "tar regulator" valve once to allow tar in (note that this valve does NOT affect the heat!). If the heat is too high (red or above), stop adding coal. When the heat falls below green you must add more coal. Watch pressure gauge on the left VERY CLOSELY. If the pressure gets too high (past green and starting into red), click the left pressure valve once or twice to "bleed" the pressure. Keep an eye on the pressure gauge! As soon as it's back in green, turn the left pressure valve back off. If the pressure goes past red, the still "blows" and all gauges and valves are reset to zero, so you must start again by adding coal, etc. (I don't think you lose the amount of tar you already distilled, though.) The line across the bottom shows your distilling progress, to give you some encouragement. Good luck! it's a lot easier to get over yourself when you look at intelligence the same way you look at beauty, or height, or eye color: being smart is easy, but being good is hard ... being smart is handed to you, being good is handed to *nobody*.
