My dad is a programmer and he used to make $60,000 a year, until about a year and a half ago when he was laid off. He recently got another job in programming that only makes $35,000 a year. I think VB would be a good language to start with. I'm trying to learn Pascal (usuing just tutorials from google) but it's a [bleep]. It's a nice language, and from it it's much easier to learn.
