Junkieman
This post is going to be about the runescape economy, something I've seen come up alot on this board, usually tied in with rares. Theres been issues raised with the constant income of money, and I'm wondering, is this brand new super easy to level skill known as construction possibly been brought about with the intent of taking alot of gold out of the runescape economy? Lets look at it this way, theres planks and cloth. Both could have and should have been easily makeable by the player in fletching and crafting respectively, would have been ideal and good for levelling in other skills, I always expected PoH to closely level everything else in a way. The point is, these things are makeable by the player, maybe nails, but those are only used up to the extent of normal planks anyway. I'm wondering why the only way to get planks is to pay 100+ per plank! Thats like 2800 for a full inv, and not the sort of money that I'd casually spend. How about the house as well? A modest fee of 1k, but with massive costs on rooms, 1k, 5k, 10k for a workshop and so on, some plants for the garden are pretty expensive as well. Again, I'd usually think twice, probably even more, before spending such amounts of money, but this is a new skill to level and everyones eager and doing it so I'm carelessly spending money. One person I know is aroun 70 construction now, and she says shes spent 6mil+ to level it to there(im not entirely sure, but from what I know of her she wouldnt have bought much off other players, so lets assume 90% of this is going out of the runescape economy), which is my point, all this money is leaving the economy through the NPCs, and I'm curious as to how people think this may affect things? Will prices rise, fall, stay the same? Will rares lose value or increase? What are people's opinions, if one person is spending 6mil, how much money could possibly be leaving the economy? There are currently 314 people at lv70+, thats at least 2billion thats left the economy in the last few days, working just off the number I had(more near 1.5), although I reckon its actually been more. Gold_Tiger10
Well, I've noticed alot of people suddenly selling of all their things just to get some cash after spending loads of it on new rooms, planks, cloths etc. I've put in well over 600k(I've gotten all of the rescources myself) and I'm only at level 33. This skill is just killing me. I think that the only part about it that should be changed is the fact that I have pay for turning my logs into planks. And also cloths are 650gp each!! I went down to Mor'ton, because I know theres about 1k planks in the general store there. Not anymore, Jagex removed that and replaced it with "Timber supports". Honestly now, oak log prices have rasied to 500 each. And regular planks are going for 600 each! This new skill seems to be a dent in all of our wallets, something has to change. here! I'd never wondered before, until today, whether jagex considered things like the economy of runescape. It's clever too, because I have yet to see how you can actually make much, if any, money out of the construction skill, so you'll need to play more to earn more money to level it, possibly something else jagex considered. I don't doubt their member subscriptions have just rocketed with this update, I know of a fair few f2pers who have become p2p just for this. Gold_Tiger10
I just want to be able to have another way of getting planks and cloths. Thats the only thing thats bugging me. 250gp for one oak log into an oak plank!?!?!!?!? Like what the hell Jagex. The money is being drained from the economy through the cost of rooms. Thats fine, seems very fair to me. But the cost of supplies is just insane! here!

More stuff you can make, more money people will spend on the skill. Why is it not possible to make any raw materials, if it wasnt intentional? It's not like fletching and craftng don't already exist, with similar sorts of things doable(you can make cloths at looms)
