voltagex
Hi, I was thinking about the technical aspects behind RuneScape and I realised it would be a perfect case study for one of my IT classes at school. I'd really like to interview one of the devs at Jagex. I don't need any trade secrets, just an overview of how everything fits together. Questions: * What problems other than server load and the World 111 bug have the recent updates caused? * What challenges are there in maintaining a game that so many people play? * How are new updates and changes tested before public release? * How do all the servers/worlds stay in sync? * How is the Runescape network set up (clients/servers)? * How do you manage servers that are spread right across the world? (thinking of more) What do you guys think? Am I wasting my time? How would I go about getting an interview with someone at Jagex?

Darkdan990
Since the questions are mostly about overcoming problems, you'd probably get a reply...however I seriously recommend you NOT use the build in email system that Jagex provides, as using it would get you around 1 in 1000 odds of it being READ, let alone answered
