how to plan your POH (long read)

I have changed my room plan several times, because every time I learned something new that made my current room plan wrong. It has cost me a fortune to buy new rooms again and again. I post this so you can learn from my mistakes (my con lvl is 55, so I will probably make some moreâââ¬Ã¦). Part of this information I learned from other threads, but I think itâââ‰â¢s usefull to combine them.

At first you donâââ‰â¢t have much choice where to build you rooms. But as soon as you reach the level where rooms get expensive to build for you, stop building and make a good room plan before spending more money! First make a plan for your final house with all the rooms you want when you have lvl 99. Decide when youâââ‰â¢re going to build the very expensive rooms (I decided to wait with building throne and formal garden until I can fill that garden with the best items at about lvl 80 and wait with the basement rooms until Iâââ‰â¢m at least lvl 90 construction and have lots of gp; I'm not that rich). Then make a plan for the several stages of your house, with temporary rooms where you plan to build a better room when you can (or want). Building temp rooms means the lay-out of your house looks better and it gives you the opportunity to use the temp rooms for training purposes. Be careful not to build on top of the temp rooms, because you have to remove the room on top before you can remove the room below. Remove all rooms that donâââ‰â¢t fit into your (final or temp) room plans. You probably will change your plan sometimes, so rethink your roomplan at every important stage (best: every time you build a new room). Also donâââ‰â¢t build very expensive furniture or use stuffed items if youâââ‰â¢re not sure the room is in itâââ‰â¢s final place.

There is a maximum of 20 rooms (gardens included) for the whole house (not for each level of your house). You start with a small grid of 3x3, but that gets larger very fast (I reached 6x6 at lvl 45; read somewhere 7x7 at lvl 60 so probably it changes every 15 levels; the maximum is 8x8). I think every room you build costs more loading time at the âââ¬Ãâno place like homeâââ¬Ã

Holy crud, you gave a lot of sound advice, well done :)

In case you're not as a quick as the author here and you can't picture how you want your house design to look like you can always use a designer such as mine. If you search the forums you'll also find lots of really nice looking house designs.

Honestly, this is a good read and will help out people who are starting out or looking to plan their dream house

Here's an example of my house and Tefda's program (though I added in a few things such as the teleport names in each room):

The entrance is the green square in the middle of all the other stuff. The room that is just a picture of a glory is a quest hall that has a permanent glory amulet in it :). The "K" teleport is the Kharyrll Teleport and is the one that teleports you to Canafis. Each combat room has a different arena. The second bedroom to the north is the butler's and only has a bed. There will also be an Oubliette room under the throne room soon

Currently: Using 63 hunter to get some of those "Chins", then I'm going to range stuff down. Interruptions of agility when I feel like it, as well.

And lucky enough to get 4 Dragon and 6 Barrow Drops.

[hide]Kwimbob now looks exactly like me in real life except for hair color. Yes, this means I look exactly like the protagonist of that certain anime that my second character, Faye_V is also named after. Yes, I bought a jacket that also looks like his. No in real life I don't have a slain bear to sling over my shoulders. Yes, I'm that skinny even if I no-life it for years in basements. No, I can't shoot a gun. Yes, I can win any other strategic video game you have never played - because I probably have, ahahaha. And yes, I also have brown eyes, yet one of my eyes looks different from the other. And yes, I'm completely oblivious to the [real] world around me as I constantly engineer new solutions to daily problems in my head. When I get hungry, all that isn't food can wait. When I'm sleepy - nothing is of any priority in front of sleep. But at any other time, I never slow down. Never give up. Never Surrender. Makes for a good life.
